The IKEA Experience
It's been years since I've been to an IKEA, and with good reason. As my Mom, who bravely accompanied me on this (mis) adventure, observed: they make you pay for the products one way or another. The dollar cost may be absurdly low, but the pain and suffering cost is high. It takes a couple of years for the painful memories to fade away.
All in all, the trip was successful. I got the wardrobes I needed. Delivery is scheduled for next weekend - after which I'll be hitting up my friends to help with assembly (advance apology and promise of beers and good cheer for volunteers). Did some good reconnaissance on a few other items that I may want to get if I can muster up strength to head back to IKEA.
In other news, this weekend I got some furniture - so now if friends pop in to see the loft or lend a hand, I can offer them a seat! Thanks to Ginny, Bob and Ian who all donated valuable sitting testing time to the sofa selection process.
I also hired a painter, settled on colors and bought paint. I'm excited to see the colors on the walls, but I will miss my patchwork quilt of sample swatches.
